As always, Michael, you are insightful, balanced in your opinion, and entertaining.  I learn from you.  Thanks for your "insights" into the industry.  It gives me a lot of good things to think about this Saturday morning while playing with my new Sony RX100! So far, it's a real winner!

You give the impression that Sony invented the translucent mirror.  I have an Olympus Camedia C-2500L in my collection which I believe uses a translucent mirror.  If I am right, you should be applauding Olympus for their innovation and chastising them for not continuing with it.  The C-2500L was my second digital camera.  My first was an earlier version of this camera with a lower resolution which, regrettably, I no longer posses.  My first camera was an Agfa Isolette and my first SLR was an Olympus OM1.  The latter makes most of today's digital SLRs look a bit overblown .

I hope the hallucinations are enjoyable ones and your recovery progresses well.
