Newbie to Colour management

Hi,
If this question has been answered elsewhere, my apologies, please direct me.

I am new to colour management.
I have a Canon 9500 printer, EOS 5D mark 3, and quad core overclocked 4.6GHz Windows 7 PC, plenty of memory and disk and Dell 30" monitor.
I have a spyder 2 ready to go.
I will be using LR4 and external edit with PSE 9.

Which colour space to use
What happens if camera set to RGB and LR4 set to Adobe RGB etc.
How do they relate to colour profiles if at all.
I would like some basic rules about colour profiles
where/how they are created
Do you attached them to the printer, or monitor, and LR4 or all three or some variation thereof.
Windows seems to have its own profiles, do you use them, or not or maybe.

Basically the whole area of colour profiles and how to use them etc is just confusing.



Any pointers gratefully received.

Real World Color Management by Bruce Fraser et al. is a must have book on the subject.

Color Management for Photographers: Hands on Techniques for Photoshop Users, by Andrew Rodney is another superb source of information on the subject.

I have all of the above.  I highly recommend the purchase and use of each.  I refer to them very frequently when I can not get my noggin wrapped around a problem.

There is also a lot of free information here on Luminous Landscape, both in the forum as well as on the home page in the tutorials, essays and in the understanding series.

You also can pose specific questions and hear many different theories and opinions.
