Thanks for sharing.  I am quite envious.  Envious of your trip and envious of your kit.  I am on the cusp of buying a Fuji three-lens kit and this has gone a long way to confirming my hopes.

In Picasa you can check the full EXIF for each shot and see what ISO was used, those 4 shots above were shot at 1600, 400, 400 and 3200 ISO. Most of the time I had the camera at 200 auto ISO.

I just bought the cheapest possible return ticket to Ben Gurion airport and had a room reservation at the Austrian Hospice for 5 days. I only walked the Old City and visited Betlehem shortly. After that I took a bus to Eilat and taxi to Jordan and Petra, Jerusalem-Petra takes 7 hours. 2 days in Petra, 2 days in Wadi Rum, then taxi to Eilat and morning bus to Jerusalem. One night at the Lutheran Hospice, which was nicer and cheaper (60€ for single) than the famous Austrian one. I had everything packed into a 24 liter Osprey daypack (no chek-in luggage), even an Osprey messenger bag which I used as a camera/guidebook bag while walking the town. Total weight 7 kg.

It's the kind of thing one does when one gets up at 1:30 am feeling nauseous.

Petra is high on my bucket list.  My endocrinologist is also an archeologist and for the last 20 or 30 years he has gone on digs at Petra on an annual basis.

I was headed to Jerusalem in 2000 but made a quick change of itinerary when Sharon entered Temple Mount and triggered an outburst of hostilities.

Some great shots, Petrus, especially the last one with the concertina wire. It makes a point about Israel's plight the whole world should be paying attention to.

Well done. I like the 2nd and 3rd ones very much, and for completely different reasons.
