James, you have captured a very compelling view of the place.
The counterpoints of harsh light and shadow, dry desert and heavy wet clouds, lush green bush but with dead withered bits - marvellous study.
I enjoyed viewing your image immensely and have no doubt that I will actually come back to it because I believe that in this image there is much more to discover (desert frontier - but I did see a dirt road in the valley) and so it goes.
Thought for food - thank you for feeding me.

Santa Fe on one end, Colorado on the other... though in all fairness, there are a lot of dirt roads/tracks through that area which meander hither, thither and yon. It's a beautiful place and I love every minute I get to go there. |

Like this...yes the sky is the very impressive, but equally for me the superb separation of light and dark zones. The close foreground really draws my eye into the image and through into the hills, you've managed to capture good texture here as well.
Good work, very well done.

Thanks for all the kind comments again  Martin - I did try the image in B&W. I thought it had some promise but the luminosity of the green bush and the red/orange dirt is, I guess, actually very close, so the initial conversion lacks much punch in B&W, but I do want to continue to play with it as I think there absolutely could be something there. |
