I saw the second one, Versailles, at an exhibit at the Annenberg Space for Photography here in Los Angeles exploring the intersection of art and technology. http://www.annenbergspaceforphotography.org/exhibition/digital-darkroomSeen in person, the size, scale and detail of the work are amazing; the examples in the web article does not do it justice. I found myself "exploring" the small details of the image in the same way I would examine the brush strokes in an oil painting or the glaze of a ceramic piece. Paul |

I like it. Some are more inventive than others, but in general it is a new and creative use of the fundamental digital photo compositing techniques that many of us already use on the small scale. Take a simple idea and carry it to the nth degree. COOL!

The photographs are impressive technical displays of Photoshop prowess. But they lack of any of the poignancy that I expect in fine art.

I don't see them all as "clever but soulless" and some of them do engage me emotionally as well as intellectually. There is a tension between the impulse to explore and the slightly creepy feeling of the mostly deserted terrain one is exploring. The figures in the landscape invite me to join them.
