Wondering if anyone has found and goodies for their DP2 Merrill yet. In particular a case and strap that they happen to like. Also anything else of interest?

If one wants to do a portrait-orientation single row panorama on a tripod, one needs an L bracket or similar solution. Has anyone found one yet?

What lens cap do you have in the photo? Can it be used while the lens Hood is attached?
Thanks.

John, I found what is a good solution for me re "cover" for lens while the lens hood remains attached. Optech's "hood hat" in the 2.5-3.0" size fits very nicely. Shades lens/hood and provides a tad of bump protection. Big River has them: http://www.amazon.com/OP-TECH-USA-8001442-Micro/dp/B00150YULY/ref=pd_sim_p_5

I have this L plate and grip combo and it is excellent! really fits my RRS ball head perfectly and the grip makes the camera much easier to handle. The finish is not nearly as good as RRS, but it is well made and engineered otherwise. I think a good value.

Just received and used the L-plate from John Milich yesterday. As Michael's new review and Ligament's comment suggest, it works great and makes the DP2M much more functional. The camera now weighs 18 oz with L-plate and grip combo. John's email and PayPal ordering process worked fine, and the L-plate took about 4 days to travel from NY to CA, pre-hurricane.
Anyone found an adequate case yet?
Regards, Rick

The best camera bag for the DP2M that I've found so far is the Lowepro EDIT 110. I ordered the JLM L bracket on Monday. However, with the storm problems up there, I'll be patient!

Anyone found a decent LCD protector. I tried one made by Vikuiti and it came off after a few days.

http://optechusa.com/hipster-pouch.html XL size is 6" x 4" x 2.5", holds camera, camera plate (should hold L bracketed camera), spare battery, spare card, lens hood. Closeup lens will fit in as well, if spare battery and cards moved to some other pocket, but as the closeup lens has its own small protective case, why bother? The Hoodman is dangling off the shoulder strap.

Here's my DP2M w/ grip-L-plate mounted to a simple pano setup using Nodal Ninja 5. After sighting in the nodal point using the target and arm on the NN I removed the vertical riser and use only the indexed pan part of the NN. (Point Lobos in the background.)
