The best one I've found, because the writer made it interesting, is this:

John Shaw's Closeups in Nature.

Amphoto - an imprint of Watson-Guptill Publictions New York.

ISBN 0-8174-4051-8
ISBN 0-8174-4052-6 (pbk.)

Picked up quite a lot from that book.

Courtesy of the local public library, I recently read

"Digital Close-Up Photography Q&A" Paul Harcourt Davies

I thought it covered more than the other books I've seen.

Also Paul Harcourt Davies seems to have some very short articles online.


Digital macro photography by Ross Hoddinott was more basic.

Asking this (and seeing your responses) caused me to search like a man with his hair on fire for about two hours, and I had no idea that macro was such a specialized subculture, with it's own sub-subcultures (droplet people, bug people, wet bug people, etc...)

Found this and almost thought to myself, if there are folks that good, why even start?  But I'm starting.  If it turns out I like it, I may have to go find a FF.
