Help, Catalog File disappeared!

Any help much appreciated.

I spent the day processing a wedding in Lightroom 4.2 on a macbook pro running 10.7.5. I was running off of a Seagate Goflex 3gb via FW800.

All of a sudden Lightroom crashed. When it tried to reopen, it said it couldn't find the catalog. So I look in the Lightroom folder and both the catalog file and preview file are completely missing! All my folders with all my images are fine, but the Lightroom folder is empty! (There's also nothing in the trash.)

Has this happened to anyone? Kinda freakin' out here. I've been using Lightroom for years and I've never had this happen.

Just do a global search for it.  It's probably just not where you thought it was.  No backups??

Unfortunately no backup. I backup each day, but I hadn't backed up today yet.

Guess I'm going to have to try some disk recovery software.

Worst case copy over yesterday's cat, redo today.
