In mid-October we had some beautiful Northern Lights, with particularly strong colours. No moon and no snow on the ground made it challenging to photograph them - it was very dark. I used a Nikon D3S with Nikkor 14-24mm/2,8. ISO 1600-2200, 6-8 sec. at f/2,8

Fascinating...the third for me mixes the amazing qualities of the Auroras with the landscape more effectively...superb very well done for being there and capturing that.

Thank you, I really appreciate that. Too many photos of the auroras are just that, photos of the auroras. I try my best to make good photographs with auroras, so I am glad that you think I have succeded here. Bjørn J

That first photo really sets an example for how good an aurora photo can be. I'm tempted to think that you just got lucky with a great show, but the framing shows the skill and patience that made a good photo great.
