Old Metz CT45-1 -> Bring back to life

Hi, guys,
i've got 2 old Metz CT45-1, that i haven't used for years..

But now i have a job where i could use them..
Now i load them with brand new Batteries ( you know the AA holders , as the rechargeable once aren't working), ..
And no response at all .. Any idea's what to do ?..

I am now keeping them loaded with fresh batteries ( every 3 h changing them) may be it will get some energy in the capacitors ..

Any other thoughts ?

Have you checked the battery connections for oxidisation?. They might need cleaning if the camera has not been used for years

The capacitors have probably dried up from lack of use.

That was it, after 1 day of loading fresh batteries, suddenly there was Life LIFE!!!

Now i put a trigger timer on them ( Pocket wizards ), so they flash every 7 minits just to get some loading done works perfect! ..

I see them getting better by the minute..

By the way i have an old CT 60 to , but there the batt is completely death, any tips on where i can buy them online?..

Funny story,
So i was bringing, those flash heads back to life...
Changing the batteries with loaded ones and so on.. And letting them trigger every 7 minits, ( via pocket wizards), just to get some juice through the capacitors ( remarkable performance change since yesterday ).

Now i've got a visit from the police my window ( on the street was open) and some neighbours though something was exploding :p:p

Caution bear in mind that the CT45-1 has a trigger voltage in excess of 200vdc! Mine meters at 221vdc. Modern camera PC circuits will not tolerate more than 10 to 20vdc.

ah , bu t i don't want to attach it directly to my Digiback, it's for RF use only

Then be sure your RF unit can withstand the trigger voltage to avoid cooking the RF unit.
