Kodak PCD file converters Win7 ?

Just dug out a stack of Kodak photo CDs.  Still interested in some of these images.  Any experience/reviews on converters out there?

I used to use Picture Window Pro. They supposedly had a better converter than that used by the Photoshop plugin. The current version only supports PhotoCD in its 32-bit version (due to a lack of a 64-bit dll from Kodak). The software was written by Jonathan Sachs who created the first version of Lotus 1-2-3.

I've used IrfanView but I can't attest to it's accuracy as the files were scans of old slides with seriously degraded color and I have no reference. It will open the files (with a downloadable plugin) which can then be saved as TIFFs.

I keep an old copy of Corel PhotoPaint 9 installed for that.

ACDSee Pro can open PCD files and save them to various formats.

Actually Photoshop (32 bit, up to CS5 at least) can still open PCD files
upon carrying over the Photo CD.8BI plug-in from an earlier Photoshop version and placing it in the Plug-ins/ File Formats folder.
Not sure about the last Photoshop version that shipped with the plug-in, maybe CS2. Hope it is ok to attach it here. Windows only.

Otherwise the pcdtojpeg command line utility by Sandy McGuffog works well,
output is limited to sRGB 8 bit JPG though.

The PhotoYCC image pack is a bit like a raw file (it's not fully rendered) so opening a PCD image pack is one thing. Getting a good acquire is another. I'd find that old version of Photoshop and the PCD acquire plug-in and do it that way. Lots of control.

pcdMagic for Windows (http://sites.google.com/site/pcdmagicwindows/) is pcdtojpeg's commercial cousin - GUI based, TIFF and DNG output, a full set of color profiles for all the combinations of scanners and film.
