Figured this is the most appropriate place to post this. Many of us owe Mr. Bayer quite a bit
Bryce Bayer has passed away on Nov' 13th 2012

RIP.
I'm working with code handling bayer arrays right this minute so I'm right into this invention. I'm still not convinced that foveon (huuuge channel overlaps) or x-trans (huuuuge mess to demosaic) is better than the original Bayer. It shall be interesting to see how far into the future we'll continue use Bayer filter configuration.
