From a walk on the Avalon Barrens. I always enjoy the early ice season - especially on a calm, sunny day.

Fantastic result. Beautiful shapes, colours, and tones. The twigs around which the ice has formed lend great depth of detail to the image and also allow for a wonderful interplay between the concrete and the abstract in this image.
All in all - a winner!

Very nice effect. I like the softness of the shapes.

I seem to prefer the foreground where the ice-surface is not in sharp focus, but I don't think I would have thought of pushing all the content of the picture out-of-focus.

Well seen... and captured! Having been around snow and cold almost my entire life I'd like to say I miss it... but I really don't. Mike.

Thanks for all of the comments - they are appreciated. Rob - yes it is cropped but I shot it with cropping in mind because of the shapes I had to work with. Mike - BC makes everyone soft. I hear it is the rain.

Nice shapes and a pleasing composition. Still, I would love to see more sunlight reflecting through the ice. But it is a nice image as it is.

Seoonmie - Yes I agree. It was a bit difficult getting access to the right angle to get enough but not too much light through. Here is another that perhaps got a bit more of the light, at least in part. I like the contrast between the light and dark sides.

That last one has a bit of magic. The first 2 are good, a bit clinical. #3 for me. Well done.

Yes, that's exactly what I was talking about! Your last version is the clear winner for me.
