It looks wary to me, ready for fight or flight. Maybe you interrupted it's contemplation of gravity.

This young buck, his sister and possibly his mom walked across a yard in Illinois yesterday at dusk. I think he tried to protect them by lowering his not yet developed horns at me and holding his ground.  |
