Looks like an old store, actually? For all it's square-on and dead center it's a strong enough subject to work for me with a head-on treatment like this, for me, anyways.

Love the clock.

You might consider experimenting with less contrast although as I think Russ is suggesting the "look" is pretty good as-is, the apocalyptic feel works for me too. I just think there might be another photograph that you might like better, that's not apocalyptic. If that makes any sense.

I find it quite intriguing. I agree with Russ's comment. And the clock somehow suggests a timer counting down to detonation. The bars on the windows add to the ominous mood. Fine shot. IMHO.

And then there's the spot of deteriorated shingles on the roof. Bet there's a puddle under that spot.

I just think there might be another photograph that you might like better....

Thinking something like that was part of my response too and would be part of the response of most photographers, I guess. I like the treatment, it suits the subject perfectly,  but I also find myself thinking of the infinite number of other possible treatments. And I guess that kind of response would be more widespread now than it used to be because of photo apps on cell phones, which allow treatments to be applied, not always as skilfully as this, with the press of a virtual button. We live in interesting times for photography.

Thanks for the feedback. The old house is situated in a harbour area in the west of Scotland. The town of Irvine. Like most harbours it has become almost deserted and underused. The clock - which is working - attracted me to take a shot of it. Square on was - imo - the best angle. I won't give it the RG treatment regarding my inner feelings.

You misunderstand. There's no need for the photographer to type out his feelings - ever. Those feelings need to be in the photograph for others to see. Cold, dead photographs are so common, that it's not hard to understand why all the most notable and successful artists understand this.
