Yep, not worth it.

Send the images to the iPad in sRGB, JPEG, at the screen resolution.  I tend to find the iPad screens a bit cool so if you want to retain the original colour balance, you may want to warm up the images slightly before exporting the mobile versions and uploading to the device.

In defense of the Datacolor app, though the color difference is minimal if any, the display of imported OOC JPEGS looks better in the Datacolor app than in the native iPad camera roll/album viewer.  It looks like the Datacolor app adds a bit of sharpening.  I have not compared it to any of the other photo display apps that are available.
