I have a fourcolor type inkjetprinter I would like to have profiles for. And I´ve seen somewhere that Colormunki works better on a 4color printer compared with printers with more colors. Anyone that have an opinion on that? I know i could purchase profiles. That what I´ve done so far, but whit a Colormunki I could profile more printers.
Would you say this is a goog idea?

4 inks or 9, you're sending RGB data to the driver and the ColorMunki (or similar) is producing an RGB profile.

The ColorMunki Photo handles standard RGB printers fine (like my Canon Pro9000, which has 8 colours), most consumer printers appear to be RGB only until you start getting to high end laser printers or printers with dedicated RIP servers. The next step up would be the i1 Publish Pro 2 (with CMYK+4 support) or i1 Photo Pro 2 (RGB only). You'd get the i1's if you wanted more flexibility over profile generation than what the ColorMunki Photo software provides (typically 100 patches).

No...REALLY, what gave you the clue?

You should be skeptical of EVERYTHING you read on the web expect LuLa...At LuLa, stuff is pretty much true most of the time. But it's still you job to discern bullshit from reality. Can you do that?

I don't have a Colormunki, so consider the source ...,
The posts I've seen from people who seem to know what they are doing ... is that the printer profiles from an entry-level Colormunki are generally as good as from the higher-end i1Pro's. The difference is that the i1Pro (1 and 2) devices take less time (one pass of patches) and will generally give more consistent results.

People have figured out how to get more patches on a page and use ArgyllCms to avoid the two-step approach used by the Colormunki.
