Ok, now that I have your attention.....
We have a bunch of raw developing apps that do a big range of camera raw support.
Then we have a bunch of medium format digital backs that are in high use and demand, yet we have 2 applications(multi raw support apps) that process Medium format raw files!!
Now that 2 of the top applications BOTH use a cataloging system built in....Isn't it about time such apps like DXO step in and support these other sensor types?
What is the problem?
We have C1 with the only app that can capture PhaseOne backs, and Leaf with its own app or C1, and the Hasselblad raw. THere is also the Sinar app that I'm not sure what happen with it.
Photivo is one app that I think does PhaseOne IIQ raw files, but have you tried using it? Its worse than C1!
I tried a number of other apps and I found DXO to be well thought out and I'm hoping the quality is visible, as they are the "quality" inspectors, if you will. Why have they not made IIQ at the least(since they have the most DB backs and the market) supported? I honestly don't care for specific lens support. I can manually manage.
Am I missing some other apps that do support IIQ?
Think of the nice niche market area you would be in...only 2 other majors!!! You would also be a NO BRAINER alternative as both C1 and LR force a catalog system. Many users of these digital backs work in larger studios or very mixed toolsets and file storage needs, they don't want a All-in-one wanna be solution, they rather dedicate the workload to the proper app. So how about some support here??!!

Uh, how many people need this?
That's kinda a problem and the numbers/market is shrinking.
You still haven't really enunciated what the current offerings are NOT offering...it'll be tough to recruit new players in a diminishing marketplace.

'Medium format backs in high use and demand'? What do you consider 'high use', Phil? The Nikon D800 is in high use and demand. The Canon 5D MkIII is in high use and demand. You said it yourself; medium format is a niche market. Smaller companies don't have the resources to dedicate to such small market segments. There simply isn't the ability to earn a sufficient return on the investment. Suggesting that LR and C1 are 'wanna be' solutions seems more than a bit of a stretch. Isn't a diverse workflow just the type of setting where a sound cataloguing database system is needed to help keep track of things? Or are you suggesting those operations would be more likely to use one of the other, standalone DAM applications?

I tried the latest RawTherapee on the test raw from PhaseOne's website. It appears there is some decoding issue (wide color stripes), but this gives a general idea that IQ180 and other backs can be supported. This quick RT development was done using exposure compensation, custom WB, Adobe's DCP profile and CIECAM02 adjustments and a little sharpening.
