I saw it and liked it in the other thread. (Lula needs a "like" button perhaps).
Good light, composition and balance, I can feel the warm sun and cool spray.

Given how often commentators struggle to find different superlatives (while having little else to say) you make a very practical suggestion ;-)

I've seen it on other forums and I think it has a place but I also think the written word is still the leading contender for the critique.

On those occasions when someone actually had a critique to offer.

On other occasions "Like" would be enough for us to stamp our approval upon the image :-)

Like the light.
Hope there was some calm clear water in there.

I like the image and shade the compliments above, but critique-wise, I'd say: too centred, too busy and too harsh. I don't feel contemplative as I would expect to feel fishing like this. Also, due to the high angle, I feel like an observer from the roadside rather than a participant. Suggestion: try using a slower shutter speed to catch the movement of the water, but not too slow to blur the angler.

I think that's a list of general dislikes.

I don't feel contemplative as I would expect to feel fishing like this.

So the image challenges your expectations. Looking at the photo made me wonder about the sound of that small waterfall. Is there so much din that I'd move on to another quieter fishing spot after 15 minutes? The photo doesn't show someone fishing a placid bend in the stream.

I feel like an observer from the roadside rather than a participant.

Yes, it's the perspective of an observer. Maybe you'd prefer a different photo from the perspective of a fisherman, but is there something "wrong" with a photo from the perspective of an observer?

As for the posted photo, I'm not sure what the bottom 1/5th of the photo adds -- so maybe it could be subtracted.
