I've got a bunch of older Epson Enhanced Mat 17" Rolls and attempted to print on them today.

I calibrated the paper then profiled it under Custom - Fine Art Matte and it came out like crap.  Then did a profile based on HP's Photo Matte and equally junk.

Any advice?  How would you work with this paper?  Your profile settings?

BTW - with an Epson printer (a 4800 pro) this paper is really very good for test prints.  On the Z3200 it looks terrible.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks -  Mark

As usual, you've got the answers Ernst.  Thank you very much.  I'll try it and report back.  (Doing some large canvasses right now so won't be for a while).

Thanks again,

+1. I will also suggest you to do a test print on pure blacks. I`ve gotten better prints using Epson Enhanced Matte with the ink limit to the maximum and extended dry time, so you donīt get any marks on the paper.

Only problem is that there is no ICC profile on the HP site for the Z3200ps.

Go here:     http://www.hp.com/go/paperpresets

no presets for the Z3200ps.  No profile for the Litho realistic Matte under Z3200 either.

Anyone have a profile they could shoot me?

Thanks-

Also, you can download the paper preset from here (http://h10088.www1.hp.com/cda/gap/display/main/index.jsp?zn=gap&cp=20000-22089-22790-22791^149951_4041_100__). It vas made for the 5000 with UV inks, but itīs a good starting point.

For my Z3200-PS 44" the media preset is present in both drivers PS3 PCL3 and in the printer panel, art papers. I guess on a 24" it may not be there as the roll width of Matte Litho-Realistic is 36". Check what papers have the same ink load as M L-R gets in one of the HP documents describing the use of third party media on the Zs. There you will find the inks used in codes (quad: MK+PK+Gr+LGr for example) and ink limit.

Got it - found it in the printer panel and then went back and found it in the  Utility.  I would swear it was not in the utility list last time I looked.  Anyway - thanks for the help, Ernst.
