I'm not a sailor/boater, but I'll throw one into the mix.

Ciao,

Very attractive mood - looks Scottish to me, which probably means that's the last place it would have been shot.

It's the kind of image that, in my mind, makes for a great monitor experience but would be, physically, far too weak on paper. Thank goodness for monitors!

Nikon F4s and Kodachrome 64.

Loved the diaphragm trademark on the right, for some reason.

Shot from our friend's boat before the later need to sell had asserted itself - nobody had the slightest idea what awaited around the corner. Just as well, I suppose, or we'd all worry ourselves to an earlier death than need be. Good health is so precarious a gift.

A slightly different take on boats: a sailboat approaching Boston harbor at sunset.

Not Scotland, Ron, but Porpoise Bay, Sechelt, British Columbia.  Back in February we had a couple of days with quite dense early morning fog, so I did the 15 minute walk from where I live to the marina.

As for being too weak for print--may be so for a largish print, but it works nicely for me as a 4 X 6 print that I have begun using on my handwritten notes.

Ciao,

Doug

Yes, some Photoshop work to get rid of the background details. These two ladies were in a boatyard at St. Augustine back in 2004, waiting to be broken up I guess. But they were telling each other lifetimes of wild stories while they waited.

I love it, Russ!
Just goes to show that you know how to shoot good "street" photography even on the water and without people.

But only some minimal false colour additions!

The truth: Pan X, 60sec exposure to kill the water and moving clouds, and a large white reflector.

Back in 2008 the waterway at Tarpon Springs, Florida used to look like this. I don't think any of these boats actually were in service, but they still sat on the waterway. Tarpon is a Greek town that used to be supported by sponge fishing and now is supported by tourism. A year or so after I made this shot all these boats disappeared, making Tarpon a less picturesque place to visit. Because of the crowd of tourists it's still a great place to do street photography but not nearly as good a place to do boat photography.

Yep, my fingers are frozen and so is my brain!

Eating lunch today, I saw on the restaurant's TV that French weathermen have forecast that there will be no June, July, August summer weather this year.

I took two shots of 4girls, the first from the left of this one, and it was pretty much useless: the black hull and water are devoid of any detail... Just like the middle of January.

I'm told that the story about the boat is that it's the property of a UK real-estate developer/builder, and the four are his wife and daughters. Loses something in the hearing, but at least comforts me somewhat...

As Rod Stewart sings, some guys have all the luck. Or almost. I suspect luck has hee-haw to do with it.

But Rob! Where are the four girls? All I see is the boat!
You've got to go back and get them to pose on deck for you (and for us).
