Can anyone comment on how Photoshop plugins work in the Creative Cloud?  Is it identical to how they work in Photoshop CS6?

Thanks!

The functionality of plugins should have nothing to do with how you buy your right to use the software. It will depend on what kind of technical change Adobe introduces to the application, whether those changes would affect the performance of plugins, and whether the plugin makers adapt accordingly. I think it puts plugin makers on notice that the change cycle has become "irregular".

Hi Tim,

Presumably they work the same, because the actual applications will be installed on your computer, just like before.

However, at any moment in time there may be changes to the Creative Cloud applications that create a conflict with the plug-ins. Adobe will probably say that the plugin developers didn't follow the recommendations, but that won't get your issue fixed. You'll have to wait for new plugin versions to emerge after their developers are made aware.

Cheers,
Bart

The smart plug-in developers are making standalone versions of their products, or even their own framework in which to apply and layer effects, such as Topaz photoFXlab.
