Hi all,

I saw this listing of 128 gig CF cards on newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007796%20600006181%20600006245&IsNodeId=1&name=128GB and wonder if anyone can shed light regarding the huge price difference, and where the threshold is regarding cards that will work with my Aptus II 12R? Yair may be the only authority here but I am sure many will find the answer to the question interesting.

Thanks,

Kevin

I don't know that I have any users who have told me they're using CF Cards of this size. That doesn't mean someone is not.

Testing for CF Cards at the manufacturer level doesn't always include every size. But typically sizes above and beyond their tested list will work fine, up to a point.

Very helpful Stephen.

Please note this list is shared by Phase IQ and Leaf Credo products (the products are very similar). But for older Leaf backs, like the Aptus/Aptus-II series, there will be differences and the previous list should be observed.

I'm just going to throw a note of caution out there. If a card this size goes bad, imagine losing 128GB of images. Just saying.

I use all the time SanDisk Extreme Pro 64 & 32 GB on APTUS II 12, perfect match! I suppose that 128GB CF won't be a problem, I'm looking forward to buy one.

People used to say that about 4 gb cards Smiley

There are probably more images lost because of dropped and lost cards while changing them than by card failure. Just because you have a big card does not mean you have to fill it up before you change it. It just gives you more room for continuous shooting if needed. With the size of the latest backs, those bigger cards will become more and more common. And much less expensive.

I have a few SanDisk Extreme Pro 32's and now that I have the big back, you are exactly right that I am wanting to get a bigger CF to do continuous shooting in the field. I guess I will be the guinea pig! Smiley
