For sale is a Sinar P 4x5 complete camera system.
Includes a Vario back for shooting 12x6 Panoramas!
This camera was the backbone of productive commercial large format photographers for the following reasons:
1) the Sinar is designed with their 2 point focusing method that allows you to get the camera set up with moves and in focus very quickly.
With the built in Depth of Field scale it allows you to shoot at the optimum aperture rather than stopping down needlessly thus introducing softness due to lens diffraction.
2) The Auto aperture shutter allows you to set your aperture to within 1/6th of a stop accuracy and remains exactly the same from shot to shot because once you have set the shutter speed and aperture you never have to touch them again while you're shooting. That's impossible with shutter mounted lenses  Each time you put a film holder into the Sinar P the Auto Ap shutter closes the shutter and stops down to your pre-set working aperture AUTOMATICALLY!  And when you remove the film holder the Auto Ap shutter opens the shutter and and the aperture to the widest opening in case you want to check focus or recompose! Put in another film holder and the aperture stops down to the exact same setting as the previous shot without any intervention from you. No more reaching around to the front of the camera to fiddle with the lens!
3) Now that you have precise control off perspective, focus, aperture and shutterspeed you need to establish the precise correct exposure.  That is handled with the CLM2 film plane meter.  No matter how much bellows extension you have and how many and what types of filter(s) your using, metering on the film plane will give an accurate reading of the amount of light actually hitting the film.  Not only that but you can also measure the contrast of your scene and really take advantage of exposure/development relationships when using "The Zone System"!
This is a wonderful system in that it allows you to work from the back of the camera for all controls.
This system will pay for itself in savings from poorly (out of) focused and incorrectly exposed film and as expensive as film, processing and printing has become you know how much that can mean.

This Set includes:
Sinar 4x5 P body with metering back
Sinar Pan Tilt Tripod head
Sinar Vario Roll film back with mask
Normal and Wide angle bellows
Auto Aperture shutter w/cables
CLM2 meter with Spot Probe
75mm Super Angulon f/4.5 Lens (DB)
