Doug -

Is it only compatible with the lenses listed?

Presumably it would also work with any of the older MF Mamiya lenses (300/2.8, 200/2.8, etc...)?

Kind regards,

Gerald.

That's the top question on my mind. Is it physically unable to mount (seems unlikely but possible), or just "not recommended for good results".

I'll find out. I'd expect to have a definitive answer tomorrow.

Looks like the spacing/position of the glass elements within the housing of the teleconvertor physically preclude it from being used with most lenses. I.e. you'd be bumping up against the glass of the teleconverter.

I'm awaiting confirmation on exactly which lenses other than the three officially supported might physically mount.

Looks like a good tool to have in the shed for tele work but if its use is limited to the three lenses mentioned then it is obviously not as versatile or useful for a wide customer base. The price does seem a bit over the top. 2x's are generally very simple designs and this one does not support mechanical AF or any AF. Hasselblad's 1.7x's is about $1500. It's always good to have more options though!

Hello,

This could be a cheaper alternative

Note that the 645AF mount is backwards compatible to the M645 mount. But not vice versa.

In other words you can put older lenses and lens accessories on the modern bodies (645AFD, AFDII, AFDIII, AF, DF, DF+) but you cannot put a modern lens on an older body or an older accessory.

Specifically you could put the linked eBay adapter onto a modern body, but you could not then put a modern lens in front of it.

This isn't to say it wouldn't have some value in specific use cases (especially if you're on a stringent budget). For instance you could use this older 2x with an older 300/4.5 for a 600/9 lens. But you could not use it with the really-great 240LS or 150D modern lenses.
