Hello all,

I recently returned from a trip of a lifetime with my wife to photograph the amazing Lofoten Islands of Norway.

My tips:

1. Wear rubber boots.
2. Pack waterproof gear
3. Bring a great attitude.
4. Drink some booze, especially as the sun sets (which lingers for about 2-3 hours)
5. Lug the tripod, it's worth it.
6. Leave the ND filter at home and just bring a huge strobe and power pack (that's my style, what can I say???)
7. Know the possibilities of medium format post-processing as you shoot (I shoot with intention that I can recover -3 stops for shadow detail). Ish.
8. Have an supportive spouse. It will take more than a cruise ship excursion to explore this area. Your spouse will have to be supportive!
9. Forget the forums. Searching for "Norway Landscape Photography with Medium Format" won't get you far other this post.
10. Geek Out. This is your time to create, explore, and imagine a world of possibilities that exists in the imaginations of painters and photographers. Carpe Diem!

I posted two personal photographic projects from our travels shot with the PhaseOne IQ 140 on the 645 Df with the 55mm and a strobe. Enjoy!

Part 3/3 will be a huge post with tons of personal images posted on the blog in a few days, so stay tuned!

I hope you enjoy!

Kind Regards,

R. J.

Amazing pictures and great writing! Thanks for sharing these beauties RJ. Please let me get this straight: You went DMF with Pentax first and then moved to Phase One, right? Because of sync? Anything else?
Thanks again
