I wish you could have found a slightly different angle, so that  the stick is not covering the rocks behind it. I think that a free-standing stick would add the sense of depth as well. You might also want to add a little bit more contrast to the overall image. Or perhaps just water, it does appear murky.

I prefer the color version you posted… Here, the stick is a problem. Removing it would, in my opinion, improve the shot.

No. 2 is certainly better in composition term. Editing well that is so very subjective and in that regard I prefer the second one too.
Though the colour version linked to above is fantastic.

#2 is better than #1, but your color version is the best, both overall and compositionally speaking.
