Focal length for landscapes

I'm just curious to see what focal length range people use the most. It seems most people believe that shorter lenses are essential for landscape photography, but it's my opinion that longer lenses are more useful.

It depends. I choose the focal length depending on the subject and have no real preference. I don't think of wide-angle lenses as landscape lenses.

The same goes for me.

But I _do_ think of wide-angle lenses as lenses for interior photography or other close quarters.

I tend to use "normal" lenses or longer focal lenses. Wide-angle lenses come last.

Like the others I use all three, but tend to find the normal to long focal lengths the most useful in my particular situtations. My Canon 100-400 is my most used for landscapes, followed by my 28-135 and 17-40.

No real preference as a landscape can cover everything from some interesting rocks on a beach to a small detail far away. So for 20D 10-200mm.

In a particular scenic area I may end up using a more restricted subset.
