How hard to migrate to Lightroom?

I have files scattered across three or four (or, now that I think about it, possibly five) computers, including three Macs and two Windows...Can I move the files to Lightroom simply by dragging them onto a thumbdrive (flash memory) or onto a CD, and then dragging them into Lightroom? For my main computer, where I have files both in Bridge and IPhoto, can I simply drag them to Lightroom? Or is it more complicated than that? Time to get organized, but I don't want to get involved in a giant c**********.

The answer is essentially yes.
Lightroom can index and calogue files that are either placed inside it, or which are referenced somewhere else (though that somewhere else obviously needs to be online).
