I like it - a lot!  I'm a tree aficionado - have hundreds of "tree" photos in the archives.  This is one I'd like to have as well...

I love the platinum tone of the trees - be nice to see a large print of this.

Michael, don't know if it's possible, but at your Pikto opening it would be great to see some proofs of your more interesting shots that aren't being formally displayed.

Opening night may not be the best venue. It's usually very crowded and social.

But I'll be pleased to set up a few days during March when I'll be at the gallery, and people can come by to talk shop. I'll bring extra prints for this.

The show dates are now set. Opening is Thursday, March 2nd. I'll have a full announcement next week.

Yup. Cherry Beach it was. That whole area near the docklands is fascinating.

This is an appealing image and does illustrate a few compositional 'guidelines' which are worth noting.

(1) The trees are leaning inwards on both sides of the frame, thus drawing the eye into the composition.

(2) The man in the orange coat is in the middle of the lower right third of the image, suggestive of a 'rule of thirds' concept which so often just 'works' in an image.

(3) The stark contrast between the tall tress and the small figure is enhanced by desaturating the trees, thus increasing the prominance of the small figure, ensuring it is not just a part of a bunch of competing colors.
