Planning to purchase a new tripod. Have been considering a carbon gitzo for some time now. Wondering if anyone could help me contrast carbon to basalt?

I recently read some comments on Bird Forum about the basalt range. I think the poster was Henry Link, or Kimmo Absetz. In short, they thought that vibrations were not as well damped as per carbon fibre. I suggest you locate the original post as my summary might be inaccurate.
