Full Version: Memory Stick Pro vs. Compact Flash

I recently got a Sony DSC-R1, and I'm looking for some more memory. The R1 accepts both Memory Stick Pro and Compact Flash; I found both a SanDisk 2GB Ultra II Memory Stick PRO Duo and a SanDisk 2GB Ultra II Compact Flash card for the same price. Does anyone have experience using both cards with the R1? I'm wondering if there is an advantage over one or the other (if not, I'll go with the CF because it will be more versatile for my next upgrade...)

Thanks,
Greg

Greg:

I have just been through exactly the same thing this week, and since everyone told me the memory stick pro would be faster I went ahead and got one of those. I shot with a normal flash card for a day and then received the memory stick. While I did not put a stop watch to it the write speeds do seem faster with the memory stick (the pro duo) so that is what I am going to use as my main card, but will also have a flash card in there for when I use up the memory stick.
