Michael,

You mentioned that you planned on taking a G9 to Madagascar. I was wondering if 1) you got to put it through its paces? and 2) what your opinions were as to its performance?

I'm obviously not looking for the technical / pixel-peeping type of feedback (there is plenty of that elsewhere), but rather some of your real-world comment.

Thanks.

I used it a bit, and I like some of the new features over the G7, and also of course raw mode. This makes it unique among digicams. I also found the movie mode to produce quite nice results.

I was sad when I had to return the loaner to Canon, and found that I didn't want to go back to the G7 as my P&S, so later today I plan on buying a G9 for my own use.

I have started a G9 report and it will appear here some time before Xmas.

Welcome to the G9 Club!

No doubt you've taken note of the discussion thread on noise reduction techniques specifically for the G9. I hope you'll contribute and include recommendations in your report.
