Hello

I'm closing up my little gallery and studio in order to take a fantastic job which is going to allow me to take photographs in some great places. It's easy for me to pack everything up and put it into storage for the time I'm away but the Z3100 may be an issue, has anyone any experience of storing one for long periods of time? I'm going to be away at least 6 months and much more likely to be away a year, would I be better selling it and buying a new one when I get back, packing it up and not worrying about it or finding somewhere I can keep it plugged in and on for the entire time I'm away?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Mat.

Mat, You can store it at my house. I'll make sure it won't sit idle. rolleyes.gif

Leave it on... the machine will go into sleep mode and keep the inks happy... and every 30 or so minutes it will wake up... check the inks....and then go back to sleep.... no muss no fuss.

A year is a long time to leave it on while you're away. I'd be afraid that the checks over that long a period of time might make a fair mess with excess inks where you don't want it. Leaving it powered off for that period of time would scare me about potential clogs.

If you can sell it for a reasonable price you might be able to return in a year and buy a Z3300. tongue.gif

Thanks for the replies and for the very kind offer John!!

I have the same concerns about the length of time leaving it plugged in and also packing it up, I'm sure the ink would not like it.

I think the best thing is to try and sell it and buy new when I get back, it seems like the sensible option.

Thanks again for the advice, good to confirm my own thoughts.
