Julian,

Balanced, concentrating on what matters and nice to read.

I have the bookmark of your pages now next to the bookmark of Neil Snape's reviews.

Agreed. And the 9900 is looking really good to me smile.gif

Great read - thanks.

I want to ask about some assumptions that I drew from the review comments and get people's opinions:

1. It sounds as though the APS would be not terribly important for those who use HP media exclusively.

2. The APS might still be unnecessary for 3rd party media as the Color Center profiles, manufacturer profiles, etc. would be sufficient?

3. Is HP offering the APS as a separate add-on for those who buy the printer and then decide they need the APS?

Thanks!

Thanks Ernst,
I feel like a rock star with my name on a thread smile.gif Glad the reviews are being well received. I still think there's some work to be done on the 7900 review. Right now i'm still in the initial impressions stage. I'll be testing the printer with a beta version of a new RIP, which should help to inform my feelings about the Spectroproofer. Also I'm interest to see how the version we have differs from the final shipping version, or if we'll see firmware changes similar to those from HP.
In regards to the APS comments. Yes the APS wont offer much if your only going to work with HP paper. On 3rd party paper, some work better than others. The APS allows for larger charts, but that's not going to make a paper with compatibility issues look any better. If you have a RIP and want to make CMYK profile, this is the place for the APS. Yes the APS is an accesory, although it is included with the PS version of the printer.

Julian, we do not know each other but I like to express my thanks for a superb review.
Having read the 7900/9900 and the Z3200 reviews, I praise your strictly neutral opinions and meticulous methodology. Finding these kind of articles unexpectedly is one of the gems of this forum.
Thank you also, Ernst, for attending us.
