This is the time of year when you can get brilliant sunshine after a rainstorm. Perfect conditions for rainbows. I was going through images for my blog when I rediscovered these images from a couple of years ago. With the brown weeds, it's obviously not spring. But nevertheless, let's share our rainbow shots, hmm?

Canon 20D, 10-22 f3.5, f6.3, 1/400, iso 400

Canon 20d, 70-200 F4L, f5.6, 1/200, iso 400. No additional saturation! Just a white balance shift and a bit of curves to emphasize the darker portion.

This double rainbow occurred near Paso Robles, CA.

Cool. Gotta love rainbow pix. I've got a bunch of them; these are the only two I have access to on my work computer. tongue.gif

I got these two last year.

I don't know, I seem to see them more in the late summer/early fall then in the spring.

I am jealous of both of you for being able to get to a location with a good view at the same time you saw a rainbow.

Usually when I see them I'm stuck with trees all around me and no way to get up high.

The first one is pretty "straight" the second one I worked over a lot to get the rainbow to pop out and turn the sky that shade of blue.

Here's an unusual one - caused, I think, by two separate rain showers close together.

Grenoble, France, Summer 2007 - I think I just received Galen Rowell's book "Mountain light" with his famous Potala image a few days before taking that...

I've never uploaded a file to this forum but here is a 1995 image if it works.

Here's a favourite of mine - three years ago, my first evening in the Atacama Desert, arguably the driest desert in the world, cue one rainbow.

Aloha,

I have not been shooting much lately, busy with other things, still enjoy coming to the site and seeing everybodies work.
Now everyone on the mainland must be cleaning their gear as good weather approachs!

here is my one rainbow and a night rainbow shot as well!

On my trip to Kangaroo Island last year I saw quite a few small rainbows. This rainbow over Remarkable Rocks was one of them.

I was talking to a friend on the weekend and she said that when she was at Machu Picchu she saw a circular rainbow around the sun. Has anyone else seen one of these rainbows?

I'm genuinely impressed with many of the shots in this thread. I can't add a single one to the group, but maybe someday. Also you guys have given me some goals to aim for. Thx.

What do you find at the end of the rainbow?

Those that know the Finger Wharf can tell you. Yes it's Russell Crowe.

Nice rainbow, Blas. Do you mean you found the pot of gold at the end of it?

Saw this one out the window one evening after a mean squall passed through. Took a 3 or 4 frame to get it all in. No time to get it on a tripod, so the buildings are a little wonky from the handheld pano and stitching, but man, it was a big one.
