Massive vertical pano of a 1500 year-old, 300 foot tall Redwood. Nat Geo shooter Nick Nichols took three weeks to get the shot and they spent 120 hours in post-prod doing the stitching. There's a link on the right side to a video on the making of the shot. Definitely worth watching.

Definitely a worthy photo in the Grand Tradition of big imagery, I genuinely like it! A couple centuries back there was a monumental-sized oil painting of that tree or a similar one that circulated around the US, very popular piece wherever it was displayed. Also like the red and yellow jackets, evoking the brightly colored "enhancement" scarves carried by certain Nat Geo photographers in the grand old days of Kodachrome.
