The best time to shoot the Palouse is when things are green in late spring. The beginning to middle of June is usually about perfect for late spring color.

An alternative to this is the late summer wheat harvest . If you prefer amber waves of grain to the electric green of spring, mid August is probably the best time visit the Palouse.

Normally the best time to shoot from the butte is during the golden hours near sunrise and sunset. The shot above was taken at the equivalent of a 270mm focal length lens on a 35mm full frame camera.
