Jay Maisel is one of the leading photographers of the past half century. He has also taught at many of the top schools in the US, and is recipient of numerous awards for his outstanding photography. His client list reads like a Who's Who of American business, and his work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the US and abroad.
The Luminous Landscape is very pleased to be able to bring Jay to Toronto for an exclusive two day seminar on Photographic Perception, on December 1 and 2, 2007. This weekend is designed for both advanced amateurs as well as professionals.
About the Seminar
The goal of the workshop is to help participants become keenly aware of seeing – specifically, seeing precisely what is in their own images. That process begins with an open critique of each participant’s ten best images.
You will hone photographic skills, learn intuitive self trust, and the ability to think in terms of light, gesture, and color. You will also become acutely aware of figure / ground relationships.
Jay will inform and challenge participants. He will illustrate his lectures with slide shows of his work. This is not a lecture class only. Questioning is encouraged. No subject is taboo. Jay’s energy and knowledge of photography make his class a most demanding and rewarding experience.
Bring your 10 best digital files on CD, DVD or memory stick. And come prepared to have a good time.
This two day seminar will take place at The Luminous Landscape Gallery, 270 Carlaw Ave, Toronto. This seminar is limited to just 20 participants, ensuring plenty of opportunity for personal interaction and Q&A with Jay.
The cost of this exclusive seminar is US $549 (our online store is designed to accept $US). This fee includes two catered lunches at the gallery; Saturday and Sunday, as well as refreshments throughout the day.
Out-of-town participants will be directed to one of several good quality yet moderately priced hotels near to downtown (under CDN $150 / night). These hotels are about a $5 – $7 taxi ride from the gallery / studio.
If you are unable to attend after registering and making payment online, a refund of $449 will be possible up to Oct 1, 2007. After that date a refund of that amount may still be possible, but only if your place can be re-filled. If we have to cancel this seminar for any reason, a full refund will be made.
