Printing One-on-One

UPDATE - MAY 2010

I would like to announce that I will be closing my gallery / print studio in Toronto shortly. There are a couple of reasons for this, including the move of my studio to near Creemore, Ontario, where I will be working and teaching from now on during the summer months.

Beginning this winter I will also be spending several months each year in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where I also expect to do teaching and workshops.

Watch for announcements on schedules for private as well as group sessions in both locations.

High quality fine-art printing can be mysterious. The learning process can also be expensive and tedious. Yes, there are courses available. But sometimes what one wants is an in-depth and personal look at the process, along with the ability to make a really fine print from ones own file.

That's what Printing One-on-One offers – an opportunity to work side by side with photographer and educator Michael Reichmann, and to work together to make prints of your own image files. From raw processing through colour management, paper choices, soft proofing, quality evaluation, sharpening, Camera Raw and Lightroom, Photoshop technique, sizing, matting and framing – you will not just observe but will be a participant in the production of a number of large format prints – your print of your image file.

These sessions are completely personalized to your interests and needs.

The Location

This printing session will take place at Michael's Luminous Landscape Gallery and Print Studio in downtown Toronto. Instruction and hands-on work will use a Mac computer with dual screens, and Epson 3880 and Epson 7900 printers. A Hasselblad / Imacon 434 scanner and an Epson V750 scanner are also available for use and instruction. All software used, including Lightroom and Photoshop, are interchangeable between Macs and PCs, so no aspect of this hands-on session will be Mac specific.

This all-day (8 Hr) session typically run from from 9am till 5pm.

What it Costs

The fee for this private all-day session (8 hours), which will include lunch at a fine local restaurant, and as many large format prints as we have time for, is $995.
